Melissa Stone

Melissa Stone is a Beauty/ Stylist Expert, and the Creative Director of Sojourn for Elan Sasoon.  Stone launched her professional career as a Stylist and Educator for Vidal Sassoon and she became their Creative Director for salons in New York, London and Beverly Hills.  Melissa later paired up with Vidal Sassoon to style hair for all TV commercials for Asia, Australia and the US. Stone’s most recent film credits as a personal stylist include High School Musical I, II and III for Vanessa Hudgens; Hanna Montana the Movie for Miley Cyrus and Francesca for Monica Dean.  Melissa is fascinated with the social theme of human hair and it’s inspiration for creativity and individuality.  She is especially passionate about styling with extensions to enhance the natural appearance of a healthy head of hair.

Melissa is known as a Celebrity Stylist to the Stars.  Her client list reads like a who’s who in the entertainment industry. Stone’s celebrity clients include Miley Cyrus, Giselle, Vanessa Hudgens, Vidal Sassoon, Ronnie Sassoon, Chevy Chase, Christy Turlington, Samaire Armstrong, Monica Dean, Alyssa Milano, Clive Barker, Kelly Rowan, Amber Valletta, Oasis and many more.

In the industry Melissa’s talents are respected equally as a stylist and an extension expert.  She is one of the most sought after hair professionals and educators in the industry.  Many of her techniques have become instrumental teaching tools and have provided inspiration to many other successful stylists and educators.  She has taught internationally as a keynote speaker, lecturer and advisor. Melissa was an International Master Salon Stylist through the world renowned Sassoon Academy in New York and the United Kingdom after which she went on to become an accredited instructor through Sassoon Professional UK. She’s been a Recurring Guest Host at New York’s International Beauty Show and London’s Sassoon International Show. As an educator she’s trained other top hair stylists, numerous assistants including Angus Mitchell; Paul Mitchell’s son and has taught many apprentices to be successful stylists.

Melissa has also worked the runways of New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week; working together with top designers such as Versace, Oscar de la Renta, Cynthia Rowley, John, Barlet, Bruce, Vivian Westwood, Victor Alfaro, Richard Tyler and many others. 

Part of Melissa's multicultural influences come from  her having lived in Paris, Monte Carlo, London and New York. Stone stays on top of trends by attending art shows, traveling the globe and by studying books and industry publications.  She has traveled extensively doing hair in many countries including Europe, Asia, Australia, Canada and the U.S.  Melissa is creatively stimulated and visually open.  She instinctively knows how to create a style that’s trendy, fashion forward, age appropriate and easy to manage on a daily basis.  She oftentimes gets inspiration from young edgy teens on the street and then takes it to the next level by adapting new styles for every age and everyday life styles.

“I’m all about keeping hair in the best, top quality and healthiest condition possible” says Melissa.  When it comes to hair products, Melissa says to use the same types of products on your hair as you would your skin; for example, be sure to look for quality ingredients to moisturize your hair and keep it young and healthy.  “You’ve got to use the best products possible to counteract the torture you put your hair through” she says.  Good communication with your personal stylist is vital, notes Stone. 

Melissa is also trained in media and as a public speaker at Rogers & Cowen, NY.  She is experienced with a teleprompter, ear prompter and has a strong background in social/ public relations.
